Description

Day 1:Nairobi – The Ark:

Depart Nairobi in the morning and drive to Aberdare Country Club, arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon transfer to The Ark for overnight floodlit game viewing. Dinner and overnight at the tree hotel.

Day 2:Sweetwaters:

Depart after breakfast for Sweetwaters Game Reserve arriving in time for lunch. Afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

Day 3:Sweetwaters:

Full day at this private sanctuary. You can do game drives or nature walks, horse riding, camel riding and night game drives. Meals and overnight at Sweetwaters Tented Camp.

Day 4:Lake Nakuru:

Proceed to Lake Nakuru after breakfast . Arrive in time for lunch and afternoon game drive. Dinner and overnight at a hotel.

Day 5:Maasai Mara:

Breakfast and depart crossing the Loita Plains and viewing sceneries enroute. Arrive Mara for Lunch. Afternoon game drive inside the Park which is the Kenya’s best and most scenic. Dinner and overnight at Mara Sopa Lodge/Keekerok Lodge.

Day 6:Maasai Mara:

Full day game viewing with packed lunch inside the Park. Optional visit to the Maasai villages for an insight to their culture. All meals and overnight at a Mara Sopa Lodge/Keekerok Lodge.

Day 7:Maasai Mara – Nyanza Region (Miwani, Chemilil and Muhoroni):

Optional Early morning Game drives. Later exit the park for your road trip to the Nyanza Region (Muhoroni).Lunch will be en route with an option of a brief stop over at Kericho town for sighting ofTea plantations. Dinner and overnight at Rosa Gardens Hotel-Muhoroni

Day 8:Nyanza Region (Miwani, Chemilil, Muhoroni and Kisumu):

Full day of extensive excursions to sugar plantations, Miwani, Chemilil and Muhoroni to Fort Tenan archeological site and Soghor hills.

If time allows, we can visit Ahero rice irrigation scheme.

Drive to Kisumu in the evening for dinner and overnight at Kiboko Bay Tented lodge or at Sunset hotel in Kisumu.

Day 9:Kisumu – Ndere Island National Park:

After breakfast trek to the lake shore or the yacht club, then take a boat toNdere Island National park. According to Luo legendary story Ndere (meeting place) is where Mikaye the mother of the Luo rested after along journey down the Nile to the Lake Victoria before reaching her home Kit – Mikaye. The day is spent in search of the lake’s largest crocodiles, Hippos, monitor lizards, birds, water antelopes etc. Enjoy fishing and taste your catch for dinner. Lunch in the lake on the boat. Overnight stay at Kiboko Bay Tented lodge or at Sunset hotel in Kisumu.

Day 10:Kisumu -Kogelo Village:

After breakfast, drive to Nyang’oma Kogelo. Nyang’oma Kogelo is a village in Siaya District. It is the ancestral home of Barak Obama Senior the father to U.S.A President Barrack Obama. The village has a primary school and a high school named after (Senator Obama Secondary School). There is also a health centre. The village is linked by road to Kisumu town. It is a typical Kenyan rural village with most residents living modestly by small-scale farming.

Other activities to indulge in include: Kisumu city excursions, visiting Impala wildlife sanctuary, Duga fish market tour, boat rides and a tour of Kisumu museum. We can also drive to Karachuonyo to visit Sondu Miriu hydro project, a project that has changed the livelihood of the local community. Dinner and overnight stay at Sunset Hotel or Kiboko Bay Tented Beach Lodge.

Day 11:Kisumu – Kakamega:

Early breakfast then drive to Kakamega for guided excursions in Kakamega forest the only left tropical rain forest in the region. The forest is unique for its bird’s specie, insects and vegetation. Visit the Weeping Stone and the community pottery workshop
Note: if the day coincides you will watch the famous bull fighting festival as the first activity of the day. The bull fighting takes place in the morning hours. Drive to Golf Hotel Kakamega for Dinner and overnight.

Day 12:Kakamega – Nairobi:

After breakfast, explore Kakamega town then transfer back to Nairobi by flight or by road (around 8 hours).
