What is the Best time to visit Kenya?
There is no best time to visit Kenya! Kenya is your preferred travel destination throughout the year. It all depends on your availability. If you are keen on witnessing the Masai Mara Wildebeest Migration, then we propose visiting between June and August. This is not a guarantee since animals’ behaviors and weather patterns are unpredictable sometimes. Keep on checking for updates on our social media platforms. Are Kenyan towns and Cities Safe?
Cases of insecurity in our towns and cities are Minimal.Our Government security organs are well streamlined to take care of any kind of negative aggressive behaviors including acts of terrorism, hooliganism, lawlessness, petty vices like pick-pocketing and unnecessary begging. We encourage extreme caution when walking on our streets during odd hours. Avoid dark streets and always walk in company. Nevertheless, most streets have CCTV Cameras installed and therefore anything weird happening on the streets is neutralized by patrol police
Can I work in Kenya?
Yes! You can work, volunteer or be on internship in Kenya. There are a bunch of Kenya institutions and organizations available online. A work permit is issued after submitting the required documents. What are major Airports and Airstrips in Kenya?
The most widely known Kenyan Airport is Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA). This is where a majority of international Visitors make their first entry in Kenya. The airport is in Nairobi – Kenya’s Capital City. A few minutes’ drive from Nairobi City centre, is Wilson Airstrip. East of Nairobi is the Kenyan Coast, which has Moi International Airport (MBA). It is another point where foreigners make their first entry. Close to M.B.A is Ukunda Airstrip to the South and Malindi Airport and Manda Airstrip to the North. West of Nairobi, we have Kisumu International Airport (KIS) lying within Lake Victoria Vicinity. Eldoret International Airport (EIA) lies close to Kisumu. Isiolo International Airport is the recent addition. It is located in the Northern Eastern Side of Kenya.Small airstrips exist to serve local tourists for example in Masai Mara, Amboseli, Nanyuki, Lodwar, etc. Flights to and from Masai Mara are available at Wilson Airport. Those wishing to fly to Mombasa, Diani/Ukunda and Malindi can also book flights at JKIA and Wilson Airport. Kenya’s Aviation is managed by Kenya Aviation Authority (KAA).
Can I self-drive around the country?
Yes. This all depends on where you would like to go. There are some locations where caution should be exercised due to security reasons. Our car hire department is well structured to take care of demand for self-drive vehicles
Are drones allowed in Kenyan Parks?
No at the moment but there could be a possibility of using drones in Kenyan Parks in the future. The decision remains in the hands of the Kenya Government. In the meantime to use a drone in other places, one needs to acquire a permit from the Government. Also read our Photography Safari Package
Can I start a family in Kenya?
Yes! Love has no boundaries! Kenyans are Hospitable. We do not limit ourselves to our Kenyan Borders. We welcome any friendships across the world. A nonresident married to a Kenyan becomes a Kenyan Citizen by registration after staying in Kenya for more than 7 years
Is Kenya full of Bugs and Insects that are hazardous to my Health?
No. This has been a myth especially for new travelers getting into Africa. As with any environment, bugs and insects will exist. They are naturally occurring and some are harmless. Proper Hygiene should always be considered in any environment. Every Kenyan and visitor is required to be mindful of his/her environment in accordance with Kenya’s Public Health Act.
What is Kenya’s take on use of plastics and Polythene Bags?
The Kenya Government through National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) offers guidelines on use of plastics. Polythene bags have been banned in Kenya. Single use plastic water bottles are not allowed in Kenyan Parks and Reserves.
Can I carry Alcohol and cigarettes on Safari?
Yes although any acts of ill behavior will lead to cessation of safari/ travel Program especially if it disturbs the peace of fellow travelers and Tour guides/ drivers. Kenya shuns the use of illegal drugs/ substances and could lead to prosecution in a Kenyan Court! Alcohol and cigarettes are not sold to persons under the age of 18 years.
Do I need Malaria Vaccination before visiting Kenya?
Yes and No! It is not mandatory although taking Malaria Prophylaxis medicines is a good idea especially if visiting the Western and Coastal regions of Kenya.
Do I need a Yellow Fever Jab before visiting Kenya?
. Yes. You are required to be vaccinated against Yellow Fever especially if you are from or you have ever visited Yellow Fever prone Regions. You can get the jab at our airport before being cleared.
What is the Kenyan Currency and what other foreign currencies are acceptable?
Kenya Shillings (KES or Ksh) is the Republic of Kenya Currency. Tourists are also allowed to transact in US Dollars (USD or US$), Euros (€) and British Pounds (£) although if there will be any balance to be handed back then it is going to be in Kenya Shillings unless you are a fellow who loves to mention, ‘Keep Change’!
What are means of Transport in Kenyan Towns and Cities?
Most Kenyans utilize public transport. We use Buses and Vans (“Matatus”). We call them PSVs (Public Service Vehicles). Some also use public trains including Madaraka Express which operates upcountry travel between Nairobi and Mombasa. Motocycles (“BodaBodas”) come in handy during serious traffic jams.
What is Kenya’s System of Government?
The Republic of Kenya is headed by an elected President. Apart from this, Kenya is divided into Counties under leadership of Elected Governors. Other Leaders include Members of Parliament, Women Representatives, Members of County Assemblies, Chiefs and Sub chiefs.
Can I acquire a Kenyan Simcard as a foreign tourist?
Yes. You will be needed to present your Passport to have the Simcard activated.
Can I withdraw US Dollars in Kenya using my ATM Card?
No! Basically most Kenyan bank ATMs accept foreign cards but only allow withdrawing Kenya Shillings.
Can I go on safari if I have special needs?
Yes. A client is required to mention his/her special needs in advance during safari / event preparations. This also applies to any special meal preferences and age. We are happy to have no age limit although taking a newborn kid on safari is not recommended. We strongly recommend shorter events with shorter driving distances for parents with newborns.
