Description
A tour of Less fortunate Communities
Kenya is still a developing country and therefore we can’t shy away from the need for volunteers. During volunteering, visitors develop an attachment with the location to an extent, the thought of parting ways with the locals feels like something close to impossible! Population growth without proper systems in place leads to a large number of communities with no access to basic needs. Children make up close to half of our country’s inhabitants. We have been experiencing economic growth but more needs to be done since many citizens especially in poor communities face disease and are unable to get education. It is sad to see our women living with or being affected by HIV/ AIDS. These women need a lot of long term support- there are few health personnel and teachers to handle their health issues and education. Both local and international volunteers are welcome and this can blend well with sparing sometime after work to experience the incredible beauty of Kenya through personal explorations and guided safari tours! Some of the programs volunteers can participate in include Counseling, guidance, feeding, childcare and even just playing with the children. Empowering women means empowering the community! Coming up with income generating projects, education and skills training ensures the community has long term independence. Businesses like sewing, tailoring, candle making and jewelry have proved to provide that financial muscle to tackle economic issues in these communities. Additionally provision of clean water and nutritious foods to rural settings is a gesture that has really put smiles on faces of vulnerable communities. Waterborne diseases like diarrhea and typhoid have trailed most communities and the situation is worsened by lack of Health facilities coupled with financial challenges of the affected. Distribution of water storage vessels in communities ensures readily supply of water in homesteads and an opportunity to wash hands and drink clean water. This is a perfect opportunity to offer your contribution to the change we need but at the same time truly have fun in Kenya!

Sustainable tourism: Africa Shujaa celebrates this initiative and take the opportunity to strengthen our commitment towards responsible tourism and volunteering. We know what can be achieved through responsible travel and the power of volunteering and that is why we run responsible, sustainable and impactful projects across the country. It is all about travelers having a positive impact on the country they are visiting, its wildlife, environment and people
We provide opportunities to give back to the community, get closure to local cultures, and learn about people and the history of every place.
We develop our projects alongside community stakeholders or organizations. We will not run a project unless the community wants us there or the organization. We design and operate our volunteer travel experiences and voluntourism opportunities in a way that gives the best outcome.
