A tour of Kenyatta National Hospital

Description

Pick up from your Hotel / residence at around 0900hrs. – Arrival at the hospital at 0930hrs and head to level three and meet with the administrator of Colour My World. Familiarize with the day’s activities that will involve children from level three, four and six. Most of these children are cancer patients and hence they are not involved in vigorous activities. The classrooms are arranged ready for the day’s activities.
At exactly 1000hrs the children settle down in class, they start their day witha word of prayer, later sing a song before they take their seats. Later the kids sit according to the level of education and at this point the highest level is class 5 and they are given school work in order to make sure they are still up to speed with their school work when they leave the hospital.
At 1100hrs activities are switched to word puzzles for older one and for the young ones they are given coloring materials or drawing materials this activity is carried out for about 1hr and later the children are given a lunch break and resting time as they hand in their homework.
At 0200hrs they settle back in class where they are engaged in less tiring activities such as watching a film or singing or rather an entertaining activity till 0300hrs where they are given more homework to take back to the wards till the next day. After that the classes are cleaned and arranged back to pervious setting.

• Crayons for kids/ pencils.
• Anything that can be donated to the kids like toiletries/ gifts/ toys.
